Bessarabian carpets of excellent quality!!! VIDEO
Bessarabia is a region on southwest Russia between the Black Sea and today Romania.
The weaving of the region started under the Ottoman Empire with mostly European floral styles. The type of weaving was pile and kilims with a very high percentage of kilims. Similar kilims were woven in Moldavia and many Polish Bulgarian and Rumanian items are called Bessarabian.
